A BILL to amend and reenact section two, article six, chapter twenty-one-a of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, relating to the one week waiting period for the payment of unemployment compensation benefits and the removal of such waiting period.

Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:

That section two, article six, chapter twenty-one-a of the code of West Virginia, one thousand nine hundred thirty-one, as amended, be amended and reenacted to read as follows:
ARTICLE 6. EMPLOYEE ELIGIBILITY; BENEFITS.

§ 21A - 6 - 2. Immediate payment of benefits.

If the benefit year ends during a period of total unemployment for any individual, such individual shall serve a new no waiting period of one week before benefits accruing in the new benefit year shall be payable: During the waiting period Provided, That the individual must be is eligible in all respects, except for the requirements of subsection (2) of section one of this article. No week shall be counted as the waiting period week if benefits have been paid with respect to such week.




NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to eliminate the one week waiting period for the payment of unemployment compensation benefits.
